Eat, Drink, Race, and Raffle for a great cause. There will be multiple food trucks to feed your hunger, Zwift Sprint Races. locally crafted beer and a rad raffle! For those that don't know, ALC (Aids Life Cycle) is a 545 mile, 7-day bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise money and awareness in the fight against HIV/AIDS. All proceeds go directly to the life saving services at the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. Check out the FACEBOOK EVENT for more info & sign up to race! We ride to raise awareness and knowledge about HIV/AIDS among participants, their donors, and the general public. We ride because—in the current economy—our agencies need these funds more than ever. Ultimately, we ride so that someday, we won’t have to. AIDS is not over. In California alone there are 151,000 people living with HIV. Nationally, 70 percent of all new infections occur in communities of color and people under the age of 25 are increasingly affected. The work of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center is vital. These agencies continue to provide the critical services and education needed to meet the growing needs of our community. The costs associated with medical care and treatment for a person with HIV are about $20,000 per year. Access to life-saving drugs, clinical trials and state-of-the-art treatment helps those with the disease live a longer and better quality of life. AIDS/LifeCycle will help those living with HIV/AIDS gain greater independence and get the treatment and care they need. Prevention services geared towards high-risk populations will ensure that future generations will not experience the same level of loss that we have faced in the last two decades.
